About Us

The Texas Public Archaeology Network (TxPAN) has identified a mission to promote an understanding and appreciation by the public of archaeology. The network is currently a coalition of federal and state agency personnel, university and private sector archaeologists, tribal members, and interested avocational archaeologists who seek to make archaeology more meaningful to Texas. The network will serve as a clearinghouse of information and resources so that members can achieve our shared mission. TxPAN uses existing and new communications, marketing and educational tools to promote archeology and cultural resources among a wider audience, beyond the traditional archeological community.
